The world will discuss development of creative economy policies in Tallinn

On 19-21 October, in Estonia, Enterprise Estonia will organise the largest creative economy event of the year - the international conference Creative Entrepreneurship for a Competitive Economy. The conference will commence a discussion on how the creative economy is actually understood and supported. The conference is financed by Enterprise Estonia from the resources of the European Social Fund.

The impact of the creative economy on the creation of added value, and thus on the whole economy, is large. Many countries and cities invest in development of creative economy strategies and programmes, the wider objective of which is to create jobs and increase investments.

"The creative economy can do much more in raising the competitiveness of countries, regions and companies than we have been able to make use of until now. Many developed countries have achieved the expected success through creation of well-devised strategies and informed use of creative economy opportunities. Now we can learn from their experience "in our own yard", understand more widely the development trends of that area, and find better possibilities for supporting the activities of creative entrepreneurs and facilitating cooperation with other companies," commented Georg Poslawski, coordinator for the creative economy programme in Enterprise Estonia.

"Undoubtedly this will also bring into focus the development, current status and future vision of the creative economy in Estonia - it would be wise to take up the useful things that can be learned from the experience of other countries," added Poslawski.

Important speakers from Brazil to England, and from Australia to Demark, are awaited at the three-day conference. The programme manager and moderator of the conference is Tom Fleming, one of the leading experts in Europe in the field of creative economy.

Further information on the conference programme and speakers is available at www.creativeestonia.eu. The fee for early registrants will be applicable until 1 July.

The conference is organised by Enterprise Estonia, in collaboration with the programme Creative Estonia, the Estonian Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
