Estonian enterprises at industry fair in Hannover: from Smart Dust technology to wind energy
Enterprise Estonia took 13 Estonian enterprises - with a joint display for the entire country - to the world's largest technology and industry fair in Hannover, from 4-8 April 2011. Germany, being a historic trading partner of Estonia, is the fourth largest country of export for Estonia; enterprises wish to improve this position. Enterprises saw a market there primarily for innovative high-tech industrial products. Participation in the fair was funded from European Structural Fund resources.
The purpose of participating was introducing Estonia as an environment with plenty of possibilities for integrating industrial enterprises, technology and science, where enterprises, universities, research institutions, production and the IT sector work closely together, with this favourable business environment serving as their background.
"The main goal of participating in the fair was finding new useful business contacts for Estonian enterprises. The secondary goal was to introduce Estonia and the enterprises here as competent and innovative partners in the field of engineering industry, electronics and information technology, thus strengthening the reputation of the Estonian business sector as a whole," said Allar Korjas, Director of the Export Division of Enterprise Estonia.
The joint display represents a cross-section of innovative products from Estonian industrial enterprises: electrical mopeds, smart IT solutions, wind energy, LED-technology, innovative environment observation systems, and the metalworking industry. At the fair, Estonian enterprises are hoping to find capable partners interested in co-operation, with whom they can continue development activities.
All Estonian enterprises visiting the fair and wishing to use the display as a place to meet clients are welcome to join the Estonian display.
Enterprise Estonia and Estonian enterprises are participating in the Hannover fair for the third time. Previous experiences have been positive, with several enterprises having found important contacts at the fair for developing their activities. The enterprises having previously attended the fair are co-operating with such global consolidated companies as ABB, Ericsson, Airbus, Alstom, Metso, Bombardier and Skype, among others, which was created in Estonia.
